Preparing for winter with Stonewashed XL

Now, I joke about lots of things. But I never, ever, joke about the weather. And I don’t lie if I tell you that the temperature difference between Turkey, where we were last week, and the temperature at home is 20C… yes, that’s TWENTY freakin’ degrees. As soon as we got back we immediately felt the need to tuck the winter duvet in the covers. No more cute summer dresses and blouses. And for the first time in three weeks, I am wearing socks. Socks, I tell you! So, I immediately started a crochet winter project, using Scheepjes Stonewashed XL.

Nu maak ik over héél veel dingen grappen, maar niet over het weer (ha!). En ik lieg niet als ik zeg dat het verschil tussen het weer in Turkije en het weer hier in Nederland maar liefst 20C is. Ja mensen, TWINGTIG graden verschil! Zodra wij terugkwamen van vakantie hadden wij écht de neiging om er meteen het winterdekbed in de hoes te stoppen. De leuke zomerjurkjes en bloesjes konden meteen de kast in en ik moest voor het eerst in drie weken sokken aan. Sokken! Nu vraag ik je! Daarom begin ik meteen aan een winterhaakproject met Scheepjes Stonewashed XL.

Warm winter crochet

But there’s a pleasant advantage to cooler weather. I wanna hook. In summer I just want to crochet with lacy yarns and cottons. But now, I think it’s time fur chunky and lovely warm yarn. To crochet scarves, gloves, beanies. There’s nothing better than sitting on the couch when it’s chilly out and work on something you’ll be able to wear soon.

Maar er kleeft een prettig voordeel aan kouder weer. Ik krijg zin om te haken. In de zomer komt er niets anders op de haak dan luchtige katoentjes, maar nu is het toch weer tijd geworden voor dikkere wolletjes. Voor sjaals, handschoenen, mutsen. Niets lekkerder dan wegkruipen op de bank en werken aan iets warms dat je binnenkort al aan kan.

I love the faded look of Scheepjes XL. This yarn is thick, warm and very soft. Stonewashed XL is to be worked with a 4 mm or 5 mm hook, it’s perfect for gloves and scarves, but also works for home decor or amigurumi. I will be making a crochet cowl with this yarn. Ik vind de look van Scheepjes Stonewashed XL zo ontzettend fijn, stoer en toch heel zacht. Deze dikkere variant van Stonewashed haak je op naald 4mm of 5 mm. Dit garen is top voor sjaals en mutsen, maar werkt ook voor woonaccessoires en amigurumi. Ik ga een gehaakte col haken met dit garen. Kom je gauw kijken?
