Scheepjes Colour Crafter Velvet

Finally, I have started a C2C adventure. And by that, I mean that I have finally started a corner 2 corner crochet project. Crocheting from corner to corner while waiting until a pattern unfolds. I have wanted to try this type of crochet project for a while and now it’s finally time. And I am having fun, so far, using Scheepjes Colour Crafter Velvet.

Eindelijk heb ik mezelf in het C2C avontuur gestort, ofwel: het corner to corner haken. Van hoekje naar hoekje en dan maar afwachten hoe het patroon zich zal openbaren. Ik wilde dit type patroon al een tijdje uitproberen en nu ben ik er dan mee begonnen. Het is tot nu toe erg leuk om te doen.

For this pattern, I chose to work with Scheepjes Colour Crafter and Colour Crafter Velvet. Picking the colours for the latter was such a laugh, as the colours are named after movie stars that became famous mainly in black and white movies. There are two black and white movies that I absolutely adore. The first is To Kill a Mockingbird, from the ’60s. And the second one is much, much older: Casablanca from the 1940s. I think Humphrey Bogart simply made that movie. I absolutely love his swagger in Casablanca, as well as his ability to keep talking whilst balancing a cigarette on his lips (an art that was lost since we all came to our senses and quit smoking altogether) and the line ‘Here’s looking at you kid’ will be carried into eternity (and was even borrowed by Big in Sex and the City, remember!). So you can count on seeing the colour Bogart in this project.

Voor dit patroon (dat ik over een paar weken gratis hier zal delen, als alles af is enzo) koos ik voor een combinatie van Scheepjes Colour Crafter en Scheepjes Colour Crafter Velvet. Vooral bij die laatste heb ik grote lol gehad, omdat de kleuren van Velvet zijn vernoemd naar filmsterren die we eigenlijk alleen maar kennen uit de zwart-wit films. Er zijn eigenlijk maar 2 zwart-wit films waar ik echt gek op ben. De ene is To kill a mockingbird, uit de jaren ’60. De andere is nog veel ouder, uit de jaren ’40: Casablanca. Humphrey Bogart maakt deze film gewoon! Niet alleen vind ik zijn manier van lopen geweldig, hij kan ook praten en een sigaret roken tegelijk (die kunst is natuurlijk verloren gegaan, nu we allemaal weten dat je vooral niet moet roken) en de zin ‘Here’s looking at you kid’ heeft natuurlijk eeuwigheidswaarde gekregen (en werd zelfs in Big nog gestolen in Sex and the City!). Dus, je kunt er van op aan: de kleur Bogart ga je zeker terug zien in mijn nieuwe haakproject.
