My C2C in progress

Can I start by asking you a question? What was the last crochet project which made you smile whilst making it? (Don’t be shy to let me know in a comment!). Lucky for me, I smile a lot whilst crocheting. I really enjoy most projects that I make. But with some projects I catch myself smiling while hooking away, and that’s what I have been doing since I have started this new C2C crochet project last week. So that’s why I thought I would show you some of my progress, even though I am nowhere near finished.

Meteen maar even een vraag: wat is het laatste haakproject waarbij jullie aan één stuk hebben zitten glimlachen bij het haken? (Laat je antwoord gerust hieronder achter). Ik heb er gelukkig genoeg! Want haken maakt blij. Maar sinds ik vorige week met mijn nieuwe haakproject ben begonnen, ben ik er toch zo mee in mijn nopjes. Vandaar dat ik even wat voortgang laat zien, ook al is het nog lang niet klaar.

I am making this C2C project using a graph, I can’t imagine making a C2C without one, to be honest. My husband is an engineer and has all these fancy technical drawing programs. And he was kind enough to help me visualise what I had in mind, so so helpful. So ever since I have been striping off every row and counting carefully, which isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Not at all, actually. The only challenge is the ends I have to weave in. But since I am weaving in ends every few rows, I feel like it’s not too overwhelming.

Ik haak met behulp van een schema, anders is een C2C (ofwel ‘corner 2 corner’) haakproject eigenlijk helemaal niet te doen. Mijn man is ingenieur en heeft allerlei handige technische tekenprogramma’s en heeft me geholpen om het patroon dat ik voor ogen had in een schema te vatten. En nu is het dus: afstrepen en tellen geblazen. Dat valt me erg mee trouwens. De enige uitdaging tot nu toe zijn de eindje die ik moet wegwerken. Maar omdat ik dat gewoon elke paar touren doe, is het wel prima te doen allemaal.

The main reason for smiling whilst crocheting is that I can just see the pattern unfold in front of my eyes, with every row I hook. And I really like how it’s going to turn out (if you don’t mind me saying so). I am rather pleased with the colours of Colour Crafter Velvet that I picked for this project. They are quite contrasting, but all colours are bright and fresh, which is exactly what I have in mind for this project. I was hoping to finish this project next week, but I am not sure if I will be able to make it. But whether I will or not, I will keep you posted!

Ik denk eigenlijk dat ik vooral zo zit te glimlachen, omdat ik het patroon zo langzamerhand zie ontstaan en omdat het echt heel leuk wordt (al zeg ik het zelf). Ik ben ook heel erg met de kleurtjes Colour Crafter Velvet die ik heb gekozen. Ze vormen een goed contrast, maar zijn toch allemaal lekker fris. En ik had een vrolijk haakproject voor ogen, dus daar ben ik blij mee. Ik hoop dat ik volgende week klaar ben, maar ik weet niet helemaal of dat gaat lukken. Ik houd jullie in ieder geval op de hoogte.
