Keep on turning crochet blanket | Happy in Red

Let’s hear it for my brand new blanket

by Esther | Happy in Red

My brand new crochet blanket is finished, and I couldn’t be more pleased. I honestly love it to bits.  And no, that’s not very modest. But nor is this blanket. I am writing up the (free!) crochet pattern as we speak, but that needs some time. And I couldn’t wait any longer to show you this.

Brand new crochet blanket

Lots of colours and lots of squares went into this blanket. I started it at the end of February, I decided I didn’t like the square that much, so I started all over again and adjusted the pattern for the square. That was a huge bummer. But in the end, I can say that it was really worth the trouble, as the squares work really well now, all worked up in a join-as-you-go manner.

Hooked with Scheepjes Metropolis

As you could see from my earlier post, this crochet blanket went from a mustard yellow to brighter and light yellows to greens… and then came blues and purples. I was incredibly nervous when I started this blanket, and I wasn’t to sure the colour changes were going to work out. But they did. I think all the colours blend together really well. It reminds me of a spring garden with loads of bulbs popping up in the grass. I worked with Scheepjes Metropolis, a yarn made mostly from high-quality merino wool, it’s light and soft and there’s a lot of yardage in one ball. Oh, and it comes in over 100 colours. The perfect yarn to make a blanket like this one.

Free pattern coming up…

Like I said earlier on, I am working on the crochet pattern for this blanket. I’ll publish it as soon as it’s ready. So, I hope you’ll be patient with me and come and have a look soon.
