Like I said in my last post about this scarf, I was hoping to finish it before the new year was out. And I made it. Just in time. My C2C herringbone scarf was finished just before Christmas and it has kept me warm all through the holidays.
In mijn vorige berichtje over deze sjaal hoopte ik hem voor het einde van het jaar af te hebben. En dat is gelukt, al was het op het nippertje. Net voor kerst maakte ik mijn C2C herringbone sjaal af en hij heeft me tijdens de feestdagen al goed warm gehouden.
About the C2C herringbone scarf
Maybe you’ve seen the other C2C projects on my website? Like the C2C Harlequin Blanket or the C2C Lily Pond Shawl? So you know that I really love C2C, and even though it’s quite a simple stitch and technique, I found that it was actually the perfect choice for the yarn that I’ve picked, Scheepjes Namaste. The C2C blocks absolutely popped in this yarn, the effect is exactly what I was hoping for.
Misschien dat je op mijn website al eens meer C2C projecten hebt bekeken, zoals de C2C Harlequin Blanket en de C2C Lily Pond Shawl. Als dat het geval is, weet je dat ik gek ben op deze techniek. En hoewel de steken en techniek helemaal niet moeilijk zijn, wat simpel zelfs, bleek het toch echt perfect voor het garen dat ik heb gebruikt, Scheepjes Namaste. De steken komen perfect tot hun recht in dit lekkere dikke garen. Precies zoals ik had gehoopt.
About the yarn and the colours
I wanted to make a very cool, chunky winter scarf with colours that would simply pop and I think I absolutely managed that using Scheepjes Namaste. I absolutely adore this yarn. It comes in gorgeous colours and I’ve picked reds, which are terrible to photograph. So with this photo I hope to show you how the ombre works. I chose the colours I’ve chosen the colours Happy Baby, Pigeon, Fish, Gate and Bridge.
Ik wilde een hele coole, dikke wintersjaal haken met kleuren die echt knallen en dat is absoluut gelukt met Scheepjes Namaste. Oh, wat ben ik gek op dit garen zeg. Het is verkrijgbaar in zulke mooie kleuren en ik koos allemaal roodtinten. Die zijn ontzettend moeilijk te fotograferen (wat jammer is), maar met bovenstaande foto hoop ik dat je het kleurverloop goed kunt zien dat ik voor mijn sjaal heb gekozen. Ik heb gewerkt met de kleuren Happy Baby, Pigeon, Fish, Gate en Bridge.
Herringbone… with a twist
I have a thing for a herringbone design. It’s classic and timeless. Though I thought I’d give my scarf a bit of a tiwst and make the herringbone asymmetrical, I hope you can see what I mean in the photo. It took a bit of puzzling, but once I fugured it ot it was actually pretty easy (and a lot of fun) to do. I have made a chart and I am writing up a pattern and tutorial, which I’ll have ready for you in a few days. See you then?
Ik houd van herringbone, ofwel visgraat. Een klassiek en tijdloos motief. Toch wilde ik mijn sjaal net even anders maken en daarom is mijn visgraat asymmetrisch. Hopelijk kun je dat een beetje zien in de foto? Ik moest er even voor puzzelen en het duurde even voordat ik het echt goed had. Ik heb een haakschema gemaakt en ben bezig met het uitschrijven van het patroon. Dit kun je over een paar dagen hier terugvinden. Zie ik je dan?
