The Merhaba Shawl

Over the last months I received a sweet email in my inbox every now and then: was The Merhaba Shawl crochet pattern available in my shop already? And every time I had to admit that it wasn’t ready yet. During my Christmas break, I decided to crochet this shawl in a different yarn. First of all to help me ‘translate’ the pattern from UK to US terms, but also to give you an idea how The Merhaba Shawl would look in a completely different yarn. I love how it can just change the look.

Zo af en toe kreeg ik eens een lief mailtje in mijn box: was het haakpatroon van The Merhaba Shawl al verkrijgbaar in het Nederlands? En dan moest ik telkens met het schaamrood op mijn kaken bekennen dat het nog niet zo was. Tijdens de kerstvakantie besloot ik echter om de omslagdoek nog een keer te haken, in een ander garen. Zo kon ik het patroon nog even doorlopen en krijgen jullie meteen een goed idee van hoe de sjaal er ook uit kan zien in een ander garen. Grappig hoe dat meteen een andere look geeft hè.

The Merhaba Shawl in Simply Crochet

The crochet pattern for The Merhaba Shawl was published last summer in Simply Crochet no.60 and this magazine was sold (mostly) within the UK. That’s why I immediately promised myself to release this pattern (once this was allowed) in Dutch and in English US terms.

Het haakaptroon van deze gehaakte sjaal werd afgelopen zomer gepubliceerd in Simply Crochet (no.60) en was verkrijgbaar in de UK. Hier in Nederlands is het blad maar lastig te krijgen, vandaar dat ik me meteen voornam om (zodra dit allemaal mocht) het patroon ook zelf uit te brengen, maar dan ook meteen maar in het Nederlands. Wel zo handig.

Made in Scheepjes Softfun

This is the shawl that I made for the magazine. I absolutely adore aquas and blues, so this shawl is right up my alley. And I just love the speckled grey, very stylish. To make this shawl you will need:

• 4 balls: colour A Scheepjes Softfun Aquarel, I used no 804
• 1 ball: colour B Scheepjes Softfun, I used no. 2489
• 4 balls: colour C Scheepjes Softfun Denim, I used no 517

But really, you can mix and match all the different types of Softfun, so, for example, you can make The Merhaba Shawl entirely from Softfun Denim if you like. Furthermore, you need hook 5 mm (US7) and 4.5 mm (US 8/H).

Zo ziet de sjaal eruit die ik haakte voor het tijdschrift. Ik houd ontzettend van blauw en de combinatie met dat grijs vind echt een topper. Om deze sjaal te maken heb je nodig:

• 4 bollen: kleur A Scheepjes Softfun Aquarel, ik gebruikte kleur nr. 804
• 1 bol: kleur B Scheepjes Softfun, ik gebruikte nr. 2489
• 4 bollen: kleur C Scheepjes Softfun Denim, ik gebruikte nr. 517

Je kunt natuurlijk ook verschillende soorten Softfun mixen en matchen. Bijvoorbeeld door de sjaal helemaal in Softfun Denim te haken. Het kan allemaal. Je haakt de sjaal op haaknaald 5 en 4,5 mm.

And this is the new version of The Merhaba Shawl, that I made over the Christmas holiday. Do you like it? Doesn’t it look completely different or what? It’s so, so soft and warm. I really love it. For this shawl, you can use Scheepjes Merino Soft or Merino Soft Brush, and hook 4.5 and 5mm. I used the following colours:

• Colour A: no. 604 x 6 balls
• Colour B: no. 602 x 1 balls
• Colour C: no. 639 x 4 balls

En dit is dus de nieuwe versie van The Merhaba Shawl die ik in de kerstvakantie maakte, van Merino Soft. Een heel ander gezicht meteen hè. En echt, zo ontzettend zacht. Erg lekker! Voor deze sjaal kun je Scheepjes Merino Soft of Merino Soft Brush gebruiken, en haaknaald 4,5 en 5mm, deze kleuren gebruikte ik:

• Kleur A: nr. 604 x 6 bollen
• Kleur B: nr. 602 x 1 bol
• Kleur C: nr. 639 x 4 bollen
