Crochet ripple stitch blanket

Sometimes you just feel like your week needs at least eight days. That’s how it is for me, right now. There’s just so much to do. I love it, but it’s still a lot. Crochet helps me to wind down and get some perspective. And can you believe that I made this crochet ripple stitch blanket in just a week?

Soms zou je willen dat er acht dagen in de week zaten. Herkenbaar? Het is nu allemaal even heel druk! Met allemaal leuke dingen, maar toch. Druk. En haken helpt me dan met stoom afblazen. En wil je wel geloven dat ik deze gehaakte ripple stitch deken in één week maakte!

Crochet ripple stitch blanket

You’d think with me having hardly any time on my hands, this would never get finished. But the truth is a bit different from that. When I force myself to take a break for an hour after a busy day, there’s just nothing better than to crawl on the couch with a bit of crochet. It really relaxes me. The ripple stitch is such a great mindless pattern. Once you get the hang of it, you can go on and on without quitting. It’s madness! So that hour on the couch, crocheting whilst watching a movie and there you go, another 30 centimetres gained on my blanket!

You zou denken dat ik, met nauwelijks tijd, eeuwen zou doen over een gehaakte deken. Maar niets blijkt minder waar. Haken werkt toch vooral heel therapeutisch. Na een drukke dag is het gewoon heerlijk om op de bank te kruipen en mijn hoofd ‘leeg te haken’. Juist heel goed dus, om zo’n uurtje te pakken. En de ripple stitch is ook nog eens heel relaxt, zodra je de slag te pakken hebt, kun je heerlijk doorgaan. Binnen een uurtje haak je zo 30 centimeter weg. 

Crochet ripple stitch blanket: colours and yarn

This Crochet ripple stitch blanket is made from 100% cotton yarn. Strong and light. And I am so incredibly happy about the colours I’ve picked, so fabulous and retro. They’re very cool and remind me of times gone by: orange VW vans, blue parasols with white frays and fold-out chairs, of course. This blanket is all good to go.

Deze gehaakte ripple deken is gemaakt van 100% katoenen garen. Sterk en licht. En ik ben zo ontzettend blij met de retro kleurtjes die ik heb gekozen. Lekker stoer wel, met een knipoog naar vroeger: oranje VW busjes, blauwe parasols met franjes en natuurlijk… klapstoeltjes. Dit dekentje kan er helemaal mee door wat mij betreft.
