Okay, I’ll admit it is a little strange to crochet a cloud and raindrops for the wee person who (especially now he is trying really hard to give us a big smile) can be such a ray of sunshine. But, as to how it always works with me, I just fell hard for this crochet cloud mobile and simply had to make it. So now this crochet baby mobile hangs above the changing pillow while my little by giggles away.
Is het niet een beetje gek om een wolkje met regendruppels te haken voor een kleintje wat (nu hij woeste pogingen tot lachen doet) toch en een zonnestraaltje kan zijn? Tsja, misschien wel. Maar ik was eigenlijk meteen verliefd op het haakpatroontje voor deze mobiel en hij hangt nu vrolijk boven het aankleedkussen.
Crochet cloud mobile: the pattern
I have been following the Instagram account of Super Cute Designs for a while (a brilliant name for a crochet shop, by the by) and simply love all the patterns she designs for kiddies (and ahem, grown-up kiddies too really). Her patterns are really well written, and assembling the pieces is really easy as well, and that’s always the hardest part for me. I chose this particular pattern because I could simply picture it hanging above the changing pillow if that makes sense? But Jennifer has a lot more fun patterns in her shop.
Ik volg het Instagram account van Super Cute Designs al tijden (geweldige naam voor een haakshop, trouwens) en zij ontwerpt en maakt echt de leukste dingen voor kiddies (maar stiekem toch ook voor grote kinderen vind ik). En als je haar Engelstalige patronen goed leest, zijn ze ontzettend eenvoudig en goed te volgen. Zelfs het in elkaar zetten wat gemakkelijk, en daar heb ik over het algemeen nog de grootste moeite mee. Ik koos dit patroontje uit, omdat ik het meteen boven het aankleedkussen ‘zag’ hangen, als je begrijpt wat ik bedoel, maar ze heeft nog veel meer leuke patronen.
Crochet cloud mobile: the yarn
To make this crochet baby mobile, I used Scheepjes Catona. We didn’t know if we were going to have a boy or a girl, and I didn’t mind either way as I am not into that ‘blue for a boy and pink for a girl’ nonsense. I picked greys, olive green, golden yellow, petrol green and grenadine red instead. And love how it looks. To make the raindrops and cheeks the small balls of Catona really came in handy. In the cloud, I have hidden a toy rattle. And since the little mister is a few weeks old already, he does enjoy it if I make the raindrops ‘dance’ while he focuses on the sound. It’s such a fun distraction!
Ik haakte deze mobiel met Scheepjes Catona. We wisten niet of we een jongen of een meisje zouden krijgen, maar ik houd sowieso van stoere kleuren, dus ging ik voor grijs, olijf groen, goud geel, petrol blauw en grenadine rood. Lekker fris! Ik had nog een paar kleine bolletjes Catona liggen, ideaal voor de wangetjes en de regendruppels. In de gehaakte wolk heb ik nog een rammelaartje verstopt. En nu meneer al een paar weken oud is en wat meer gaat zien, vindt hij het reuze interessant als ik tijdens het verschonen de regendruppels eens een tik geef en de boel dan meerammelt. Hele mooie afleiding, zo kun je wel zeggen!

Gorgeous and clever crochet project, my dear! Super cute design and it looks so fresh and smart. This one is going to my “To Do List”, that’s for sure!
