Last week I started my brand new crochet project, a scarf for my little boy. And does he need it, it’s been freezing most nights since a few days, so it’s pretty cold when we go out in the morning. It does make it extra fun to work on his scarf though and it makes me hurry up. This is one crochet project that can’t be delayed.
Vorige week begon ik mijn nieuwe haakproject, een sjaal voor mijn kleine jongen. Nodig, want wat is het al koud geweest deze week. Dat maakt het extra leuk om aan dit project te werken en maakt dat ik ook even stevig door haakte. Want dit project mag nu eens geen vertraging oplopen!
The scarf itself is completely finished now. And that wasn’t so hard. Just a straight scarf, easy to make when watching a documentary on Netflix. But no, the scarf is far from finished yet. Because I’ll be cross stitching on it. I will cross-stitch a snowman and snowflakes on this scarf. I simply adore cross stitching on crochet. It’s my yoga and I get more enthusiastic with every cross-stitch.
De sjaal zelf is inmiddels helemaal af. En nee, dat was niet zo moeilijk. Gewoon rechtdoor haken. Ook weleens lekker. Docu van Netflix erbij en gaan! Maar nee, de sjaal is nog niet af. Want ik ga erop borduren. Een sneeuwman en sneeuwvlokken. Dan wordt het een echte wintersjaal. Ik ben bovendien echt dol op kruissteek borduren op haakwerk. Ik word er heel rustig van en raak enthousiaster naarmate het patroon zich onthult.
I’ve made the scarf with Scheepjes Stonewashed and I am planning to cross-stitch with several colours of Catona. Now, this is a golden combination for crochet and cross-stitch. Don’t ask me why, but the stitches and colours just really pop on Stonewashed, it’s lovely. And yes, it’s really addictive. I thought I’d just cross-stitch one three rows for the photograph, but before I knew it I was halfway done with a snowman. Nice huh. Did you know, by the way, that cross-stitching and pancake baking have a thing in common? The first one always turns out not quite what you were hoping for. I’m serious! But like with pancake baking: just keep going as the rest turns out just fine. I am hoping to finish the scarf in the next few days, so I can show you next week.
De sjaal haakte ik met Stonewashed van Scheepjes en voor de kruissteken gebruik ik verschillende kleuren Catona. Ik weet niet precies waarom, maar Catona werkt perfect om te kruissteek borduren op Stonewashed. De steken en kleuren komen er gewoon heel mooi op uit. En het werkt dus echt verslavend. Ik wilde snel voor de foto even drie rijen borduren, maar ineens was ik alweer halverwege, Mooi is dat hè. Overigens is het met de eerste kruissteek, zoals met de eerste pannenkoek. Die ziet er nooit helemaal zo uit als dat je had gehoopt. Ja, mooie vergelijking hè. Maar het is dus echt zo. Bizar. Maar zoals ook met pannenkoeken: gewoon doorgaan, want de rest komt wel prima uit de bus. Volgende week laat ik hopelijk het eindresultaat aan jullie zien.

Oh, die wordt leuk! Hm, ik kan niet ontdekken welk kruisje je als eerste hebt gezet, hoor.
Het is berekoud en hard nodig, deze sjaal. Opschieten dus😁. Mooie stoere kleur, leuk voor een jongen. En het borduursel….. dat maakt het helemáál leuk voor een grote kleine stoere vent.
So cute! I can’t wait to see it finished. I hope to make some for my grandchildren! You are so talented! I need to order some of that yarn for sure!
